It is always so enticing to think of our baby smelling so good and so fresh after every bath. Of course, if we are to choose, we’d want them to be in that state 24/7. How nice it would be to cuddle and kiss them. But can we really do that? Is it really safe to frequently give our baby a good bath? Can we do that everyday? If not, how often should we bathe our baby then? Let’s go ahead and find out.
What would happen if baby takes a bath everyday?
Baby’s skin (especially newborn and infants) are known to be delicate and sensitive. Ideally, we would want to keep it clean and healthy, but bathing everyday is not the solution to that. According to studies, bathing everyday could do more harm than good in baby’s skin especially with the use of too much soap and cleanser. It could dry out the natural moisture and wash off the natural vitamins in baby’s skin. Considering that it is still so sensitive, they baby’s skin might even develop rashes once it becomes so dry.
Bathing a baby should only be done around 3-4 times every week. If you are concerned with cleanliness, then you can wash his face with water then wipe his body with wet wash cloth. Avoid using too much baby bath, soap and cleanser especially for newborns too.
How often should toddlers and young kids take a bath?
It is said that the frequency of bathing a child should increase as he gets older. Toddler and young kids are very much active and playful already. They’d love to explore with everything that gets along their way, so its understandable that they’d become sweaty and messy. However, everyday bathing is still not advisable for them. Their skin still needs the vitamins and moisture that bathing might wash off. What you can do though is use wet wash cloth and wet wipes, or you can wash the hands, face, feet with plain water to clean them up.
Nothing’s as adorable as a baby who is always fresh and clean. However, that doesn’t only require bathing everyday to achieve. You can make sure your baby is clean and adorable in some other ways. Set as an example to him. Keep your place clean and tidy, and after every activity and playtime, wash those hands or wipe the dirt off. Make sure he is wearing clean and tidy clothes. Keep him clean with washcloth or wet wipes to avoid build up of sweat and bad odor.
Aside from the fact that a clean and fresh looking baby is so adorable, let’s not forget that cleanliness is one of the best way so your baby can fight and protect himself against harmful bacteria that may cause diseases too. So mommy, just make sure to keep baby clean even without daily bathing, and soon enough, he will also be able to practice cleanliness as he grows up to be that adorable and fresh looking little one.
